Detecting pregnancy as soon as it happens is something that many women want to do. The sooner a pregnancy can be detected, the sooner plans can be made for the all of the changes that pregnancy brings. When you know the early signs and symptoms of pregnancy, you can be aware of your condition almost right away.
The first early sign of pregnancy is typically a missed period. Ovulation usually occurs around two weeks before menstruation begins. When a pregnancy happens at ovulation, hormones begin being produced that stop the menstrual cycle from continuing. A missed menstrual cycle is often the first sign that women have that they may be pregnant.
The second sign of early pregnancy for many women is nausea. For many women, the hormones that work to maintain a pregnancy can also cause a woman to become ill. Her body may become more sensitive to certain smells, flavors, and textures. Nausea, and occasionally vomiting, can occur within days of pregnancy for some women. When sudden, unexplained illness strikes it may be an early sign of pregnancy.
A third very early sign of pregnancy is often fatigue and weakness. Many pregnant women feel very tired and out of energy during the early weeks of pregnancy. Many of the early changes that occur during pregnancy can tax a woman’s body, using valuable energy and resources to maintain the rapid fetal growth that occurs. For some women this exhaustion can begin within days of pregnancy and can cause her to be unable to do many things.
Each woman’s body is different, the way her body responds to pregnancy will be unique to her. Though these are the typical early signs of pregnancy, some women may experience other signs during early pregnancy. Swelling and tenderness in the breasts occurs for some women within the first days and weeks of pregnancy. Other women may begin to experience mood swings and emotional disruptions due to fluctuating hormone levels.
Knowing when pregnancy first begins is something that many women want to know. Being able to recognize the early signs and symptoms makes detecting pregnancy as soon as possible much easier to do.
